why wait for graduation?

We're Building a School!! No one seems to believe me when I say that but I'm not kidding! Here's the idea: three cargo containers (like what you would find on a semi truck) are converted into a fully functioning school and then shipped to South Africa with the remaining supplies to complete construction. They have electrical wiring, plumbing, insulation, drywall, tile, paint, desks, toilets, cabinets, toys, books, etc. We, Africa Rising, have only committed to one of the three containers for our particular school. Most of the time it's businesses or church groups who take on this project so they naturally have more members, money, and skill. But I have been so impressed with how generous our Furman and Greenville communities have been.

As of yesterday we have completed the wiring, plumbing, insulation, drywall, mudding, and the base coat of paint on the outside. We also had a competition last week to raise supplies for the school. Now we have a TON of books, toys, markers, crayons and all the other things that make a school a school. I'll try to post more pictures as we progress. but check out cargoofdreams.org for completed schools.
